In a deal facilitated by IMG, Rovio Entertainment and Capsule Skateboards are launching a line of licensed Angry Birds skateboards.
The licensing division of IMG represents the Angry Birds brand for Rovio Entertainment. The global agency provides independent licensing services such as strategic development, contract negotiation assistance, marketing, merchandising and promotions services.
Capsule Skateboards is a skateboard manufacturer that provides eco-friendly and recyclable alternatives to wood skateboards, helping to decrease deforestation.
“We are more than excited to join forces with Angry Birds and share our passion for skateboarding of all generations,” said Andreas Charalambous at Capsule Skateboards.
“This new cooperation follows our company’s mission and goal to spread awareness around skateboarding and bring an eco-friendly alternative to wood board construction.”
The licensed skateboard collection will feature seven new skateboard decks, each featuring graphics inspired by the Angry Birds mobile game and entertainment brand.
The global Angry Birds brand is the flagship property of the mobile game developer, Rovio Entertainment. Angry Birds began as a mobile game in 2009, and has since expanded to include entertainment, animations and consumer products in brand licensing.
“Movement, activity and fun are in the DNA of the Angry Birds brand, making this a great match,” said Katri Chacona, Director of Brand Licensing at Rovio. “We are happy to encourage people to get active with Capsule’s skateboards.”
The co-branded skateboards are available for purchase exclusively on the e-commerce shop of Capsule Skateboards.
