Big Bad Boo Studios, despite its name, is an animation company that wants to do good in the world, and how better to do that than to hire a Vice President in charge of doing good things?
With that in mind, BBB has hired a new Vice President, Nikki Whaites, to head its international development team from her base in Toronto, Canada.
Whaites was formerly the head of international development at War Child Canada, and has 20 years of experience running similar programs for a variety of non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
As VP of international development at Big Bad Boo, Whaites’ brief will be to help the animation company build on its existing relationships with NGOs like Save the Children and UNICEF, said CEO and co-founder Aly Jetha. The goal is to improve on BBB’s delivery of entertainment-based educational programs in the areas of child poverty and helping developing nations improve access to food, sustainable jobs, resources and education.
Big Bad Boo has previously partnered with UNICEF and other NGOs on entertainment-based educational programs. The company received a World Innovation Summit for Education Award at the United Nations in 2018 for a life skills and civic education program created around its series 1001 Nights. In 2020, Big Bad Boo was inducted into the Million Lives Club, which identifies companies that have had a positive impact on more than one million children living in poverty.
Based in Vancouver and New York, Big Bad Boo Studios has produced animated series such as 16 Hudson, ABC with Kenny G and Bravest Knight.
