The first-ever tea house based on the international SMILEY IP has opened in Beijing Chaoyang Joy City.
The new SMILEY tea house is operated by the popular Chinese food and catering franchise, the Chanyo Cater Group.
The Chanyo Cater Group currently operates more than 6,000 restaurants. The company has developed a tea menu based on original leaf steam tea for the SMILEY tea house. The menu will combine tea and wine, as well as tea and coffee to make a Chinese and Western fusion tea experience.
The SMILEY tea shop is under the registry of the international brand, SMILEY. Founded in 1997, SMILEY is the original creator of Internet graphic emoticons.
“I am super proud to launch our first Smiley tea which is actually the first permanent restaurant concept we ever opened,” said Nicolas Loufrani, Smiley CEO. “The teams at Chanyo and Smiley have been working very hard for a year to come up with this fantastic tea house. In line with our brand values, it is positive, creative and sophisticated. I can’t wait to go back to China and try it for myself in one of the many cities where we are planning to open.”
The first SMILEY tea house is located on the eighth floor of Beijing Chaoyang Joy City. The tea houses’ design features various SMILEY installations for customers to experience the brand.
The Chanyo Cater Group has future plans to open a hundred more licensed SMILEY tea house locations in China.
