Hasbro, one of the world’s largest licensors and toy companies has been named as one of the world’s most ethical companies.
The news should come as no surprise; this is actually the 12th straight year Hasbro has been recognized by Ethisphere for ethics in business. The toy and entertainment company is one of 135 honorees this year, and one of only five consumer products companies.
“As a company bringing play and joy to generations of fans around the world, we are committed to operating our business responsibly and ethically,” said Chris Cocks, Hasbro chief executive officer. “We are honored to be named a World’s Most Ethical Company for the 12th straight year.”
Ethisphere is a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices, and releases a ‘best of the best’ list every year. Grounded in Ethisphere’s proprietary Ethics Quotient, the World’s Most Ethical Companies assessment process includes more than 200 data points on culture; environmental and social practices; ethics and compliance activities; governance; diversity, equity, and inclusion; and initiatives that support a strong value chain.
The process serves as an operating framework to capture and codify the leading practices of organizations across industries and around the globe.
“Ethics matters,” says Ethisphere CEO Erica Salmon Byrne. “Organizations that commit to business integrity through robust programs and practices not only elevate standards and expectations for all, but also have better long-term performance.
“We continue to be inspired by the World’s Most Ethical Companies honorees and their dedication to making real impact for their stakeholders and displaying exemplary values-based leadership,” she added. “Congratulations to Hasbro for earning a place in the World’s Most Ethical Companies community.”
Hasbro as a company has made a point of putting ethics at the heart of its business, and annually releases a report on its progress in this area. The most recent report is Playing with Purpose: ESG Progress Report 2021-2022.
Some of the other companies named that are active in licensing include Colgate-Palmolive, John Deere, Grupo Bimbo, General Motors, Kellogs, L’Oreal, Oshkosh, Pepsico, and Sony.
