Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer is launching the MGM Clip Locator, an AI-driven platform that will enable marketers and filmmakers to easily source and license clips.
MGM is an entertainment company focused on the production and global distribution of film and television content across all platforms. MGM’s film library includes over 4,000 titles that can be licensed by brands and film-makers.
The MGM Clip Locator allows registered users such as brands and production companies to swiftly research clips from the company’s catalog of films. The AI-driven platform enables users to search for specific lines of dialogue, and soon it will be searchable by objects or actions depicted in scenes.
For example, if a user is looking for clips that feature a truck, they can type what they are searching for into the search bar and the platform will generate options that can be sorted by relevancy and then re-filtered using criteria such as actor name or movie title.
The MGM Clip Locator is intended to reduce research time for licensors from hours to minutes. Once the preferred clips are selected, they can be requested for licensing use through the shopping basket feature. MGM is the first Hollywood studio to offer this type of platform.
“MGM’s library is iconic, with a huge demand from marketers, documentarians, filmmakers, and others who are interested in using clips of the studio’s content,” said Robert Marick, Executive Vice President Global Consumer Products and Experiences.
“With the launch of the MGM Clip locator, we are not only making the process easier for our customers, but we are also providing an innovative solution that sets a new bar for how Hollywood studios can make the process more efficient.”
MGM partnered with the Web3 company, Eluvio, to develop its machine-learning and content delivery capabilities for the MGM Clip Locator. This new partnership expands upon the company’s previously announced usage of the Eluvio Content Blockchain.
The MGM Clip Locator can be accessed via MGM’s Licensed Media and Advertising website, which helps productions, advertisers, and other business-to-business audiences research and request stills and clips from MGM’s library.
