Items, clothing and new characters inspired by Sanrio brands are coming to the Nintendo hit video game Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.
Sanrio owns several popular character brands, the most famous being Hello Kitty (pictured), which have been licensed in everything from apparel, to gifts, to home products. Now Sanrio’s suite of adorable characters will be setting up camp in the Animal Crossing world as well. Last week saw the game Animal Crossing: New Horizons welcome new residents and items inspired by a number of popular Sanrio characters, with the launch of the Animal Crossing Sanrio Collaboration Pack.
The pack includes all six amiibo cards from the unique Sanrio Collaboration Series. The cards are compatible with Animal Crossing: New Horizons and each comes with a different theme inspired by various Sanrio characters.
After updating the game to the latest version, players will be able to tap the Sanrio amiibo cards in to their Nintendo Switch to unlock exclusive posters to order in-game, along with furniture and fashion items inspired by Hello Kitty, Pompompurin, Cinnamonroll, My Melody, Little Twin Stars and Kerokerokeroppi.
Players can use the items to dress up and decorate their island to the theme of their favourite Sanrio characters. Six exclusive residents matching the various themes can be invited to the player’s campsite and can move to the player’s island. The residents can also be invited to Harvey’s island for a photo shoot session.
The collaboration will also see Sanrio characters appearing in the Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp mobile game. The Sanrio Characters Collection 2021 in-game event—which began on March 26—will run through until May 10.
