Aconyte Publishing Novels Inspired by Marvel, Assassin’s Creed

The newly launched Aconyte Books says it’s publishing a new series of novels inspired by Marvel’s hit tabletop miniatures game Crisis Protocol, and a series based on the Assassin’s Creed video game series.

Aconyte is the novels division of Asmodee Entertainment, created last year to deliver on the Asmodee slogan: “Great games, amazing stories!”, and to create new  content to be leveraged on further entertainment platforms. Unlike many publishing houses, Aconyte focuses very tightly on becoming a “go-to partner” for tie-in fiction, inspired by the world’s most popular brands.

To helm the imprint, Asmodee Entertainment has hired Marc Gascoigne, formerly the  publisher & Managing Director of award-winning global sci-fi imprint Angry Robot. The team works in the UK, and began publishing last summer for the US, UK and export markets. As well as a range of fiction based on Asmodee’s properties, Aconyte are also concluding deals to explore a number of third-party IPs, with more planned.

Aconyte has now secured a deal to allow the publication of a series of books based on Marvel’s Crisis Protocol story line. The series will kick off with TARGET: KREE, the action-packed adventure that sees Iron Man and Ms. Marvel clash with a few familiar faces from the Guardians of the Galaxy. Following the destruction of their home world, a group of Kree refugees come to Earth looking for a place of safety. But when one of their number is suspected of being the planet-killer, Tony Stark and Ms. Marvel will have to choose between the fate of the world and the people they care about.

Written by multiple award-winning author and comics editor Stuart Moore, Target: Kree will be published in the US and Canada on July 6 2021 and on Sept. 16 in the UK. This first book in the trilogy will be available in trade paperback and ebook formats, with an audiobook version expected to follow shortly after. A variety of translated editions are being planned with Aconyte’s European publishing partners.

Marvel: Crisis Protocol is a tabletop hobby miniatures game set in the Marvel Universe. Players assemble, paint, and collect highly detailed miniatures representing iconic Marvel characters. Players choose characters from their collections to form their own Marvel inspired dream team, and then pit their chosen forces against each other on an interactive tabletop space.

At the end of 2019, Aconyte was announced as Marvel’s newest fiction partner for original prose novels, creating new adventures based around a roster of Marvel’s comic book characters including Legends of Asgard, Heroines, Untold, and Xavier’s Institute.

Ubisoft Deal To See Assassin’s Creed Novels Launching in June

Aconyte has also been previously named as Ubisoft’s go-to fiction partner for novels for adult readers for properties like Watch Dogs and Tom Clancy’s The Division, and the company is also launching the first of its Assassin’s Creed novels with the publication of The Ming Storm this June. The novel is the opening volume of an exciting trilogy set in 16th century China, featuring the young assassin Shao Jun. Written by Chinese author Yen Leisheng, the novel has already been published in China and France, with editions in several other languages planned.

This first book will be followed in early 2022 by a new trilogy of novels set in the time of Ubisoft’s latest smash hit game Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which offers players the captivating experience of playing as a legendary Viking warrior leading their clan to glory in 9th century England. A third trilogy of novels in a wholly new setting is also in development.
