BBC Studios’ long-running hit Doctor Who continues to soar in licensing circles, as the studio has signed on three new partners.
“Fans are the lifeblood of Doctor Who,” said Suzy Raia, the VP of Licensing at BBC Studios Americas. “Those who have been along for the ride for decades will enjoy adding these collectibles to their collections—and if you’re just joining us, these are great gifts for the Doctor Who newbie in your life as well.”
The studio says its agreement with Hallmark, one of the world’s largest card and collectible companies, will result in the launch of new Doctor Who collectables, including a TARDIS Keepsake Ornament with Light and Sound and The Fourth Doctor Keepsake Ornament. For the uninitiated, the TARDIS in Doctor Who is essentially a time machine designed to look like an antique phone booth.
A second partner, Beeline Creative, will be launching a new line of Doctor Who Geeki Tiki mugs from Oct. 7 featuring K-9, the Eleventh Doctor and TARDIS designs, as well as a Mini Muglet four pack. Beeline’s Geeki Tikis are essentially Tiki-styled products, produced to commemorate modern series or films.
The third agreement is with Rittenhouse, which will result in two new lines of trading cards commemorating the events of Doctor Who: Series 11 and 12. These will feature autograph cards signed by characters like Jodie Whittaker (The Doctor), Mandip Gill (Yaz), Tosin Cole (Ryan), Sacha Dhawan (The Master), Patrick O’Kane (The Lone Cyberman), Chris Noth (Jack Robertson), Alan Cumming (King James) and dozens of other cast members.
Doctor Who is available in the US exclusively on BBC America, with past seasons available to stream on HBO Max. Classic Doctor Who episodes can be streamed on BritBox.
