Branded Bottles

Following in the footsteps of so many rock bands, Metallica has partnered with Budwieser to launch a limited edition line of branded beers in Canada. A run of over 91,000 black cans featuring the band’s logo will be sold in cases of 15 and 24. Freebies were handed out to fans during Metallica’s two shows in Qubec City on September 14–16. The retail edition has an additional edge—a tanker of ordinary Budwieser was parked outside the Sept. 16th show before being canned. The beer is brewed in Canada by Labatt.

While lead singer James Hetfield is publically sober, drummer Lars Ulrich recently lent his image to two Danish beer companies.

Non-alcoholic Extensions

The Coca-Cola Co. expands its Coke Bottle 100 program, marking the centennial of the iconic glass bottle design, with limited edition journals and fashion apparel.

Branded journals from Moleskin are available now exclusively at Moleskin stores and online. The limited run of 5,000 journals feature illustrations inspired by the iconic bottle from David Schwen, Matt Allen, Chris Weston, Hitomi Watanabe, Iki Oyamade, and a team from Ogilvy & Mather Paris.

In collaboration with designer Nigo and his Japanese cult brand Human Made, a limited edition apparel collection of five screen-printed t-shirts is now available at select specialty retailers in London and New York. Last month, the designer held an art exhibit at the Tokyo department store Isetan Mitsukoshi to celebrate the centennial and the launch of the slim aluminum bottle in Japan.
