Forbidden Planet, a pop culture product developer, has partnered with ViacomCBS to release new merchandise featuring several of Paramount Pictures classic films, including Forrest Gump, Top Gun, and the hilarious cult classic Galaxy Quest.
In total seven Paramount films are included in the new range of apparel and giftware that will be released through Forbidden Planet’s online retail portal. Those include: The Godfather, Top Gun, Top Gun: Maverick, Forrest Gump, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Anchorman, Sleepy Hollow, and Galaxy Quest.
“I’m genuinely thrilled to be working on the Paramount Films library,” said Anthony Garnon, licensing and special projects manager at Forbidden Planet, “These are some of the most well known and beloved films of all time.
Because of its ties to the world of Sci Fi and science fiction fan culture, the first releases in the range will feature products inspired by Galaxy Quest, which pokes fun at shows like Star Trek and the fans at conventions like Comic Con.
“I’m very proud to launch with some great Galaxy Quest merchandise,” said Garnon. “That’s a fantastic cult film that hasn’t had much merchandising in recent years, and we’ve had fans crying out to get their hands on some.”
The new line of merchandise will include t-shirts, hoodies, and accessories, including sew-on patches, enamel keyrings and pin badges. Forbidden Planet is also releasing an exclusive, collectible line of giftware with art prints, postcard packs, mugs, tea towels, magnets and travel pass holders.
Forbidden Planet previously worked with ViacomCBS on collaborations for merchandise connected to Nickelodeon and South Park.
