The wildly popular Fortnite video game has made an art form of incorporating popular celebrities or movie characters into its game play, and over the past week has outdone itself.
Thanks to a trio of new agreements, Fortnite players can dress their game avatars as their favorite soccer (football) players from around the globe, go on the hunt as The Predator, or relentlessly stalk their opponent as either Sarah Connor or the Terminator T-800 from the Terminator film franchise.
As of Jan. 23 players could choose from 10 different ‘Kickoff Set’ outfits to represent their favorite soccer team inside the game, and each outfit can be swapped for the uniforms of any of the 23 teams participating in the licensing deal, which includes:
- Manchester City FC
- Juventus
- AC Milan
- Inter Milan
- AS Roma
- Seattle Sounders FC
- Atlanta United
- Los Angeles FC
- Santos FC
- Wolves
- West Ham United FC
- Sevilla FC
- Sporting CP
- Borussia Mönchengladbach
- FC Schalke 04
- VfL Wolfsburg
- Rangers FC
- Celtic FC
- Cerezo Osaka
- Melbourne City FC
- Sydney FC
- Western Sydney Wanderers
- EC Bahia
The Fortnite team has also partnered with soccer legend Pelé, incorporating into the game the famous ‘air punch’ he would perform after scoring a goal. For the record, Pelé recorded 1,282 air punches in his career. Players can also participate in a Pelé Cup to win prizes, including a signed shirt, and Fortnite has incorporated a four on four soccer mini game into Fortnite.
In addition to this month’s soccer licensing features, Fortnite also released the Terminator, Sarah Connor, and Predator into the game, complete with weapon sets.
