The specialist Anime streamer Crunchyroll is offering up four almost unbearably cute series for licensing opportunities outside of Asia, most of them involving cats and kittens with a decidedly Hello Kitty vibe.
TAMA of the 3rd District is a popular anime for kids that has been around since 1983, and follows the life and adventures of a cat named Tama and his collection of feline and canine friends.
Oh, Suddenly Egyptian God is a new anime that takes viewers into the world of ancient Egyptian deities, from Anubis to Thoth, with a healthy accent on Egyptian cat gods.
The series Nyampire tells the story of a bloodthirsty but adorable kitten who is abandoned but saved by a vampire, who gives the kitten some of its blood to help it survive … turning the kitten into a vampire hybrid that just happens to be a housecat.
The last of the four is not a cat but Kapibara-san; a Capybara who lives with his animal and human friends in a colorful world called the Midorino Grassland.
John Leonhardt, head of consumer products at Crunchyroll, says all four have been popular with consumers in Asia, and would be ideal for toy and plush lines.
“Anime offers something for everyone; from action to romance, comedy to fantasy, slice of life and more,” says Leonhardt. “This latest slate of charming anime series would make a delightful addition to your portfolio of products across categories.”
