Toei Animation and the Los Angeles Dodgers are launching a game-day promotion that will bring the One Piece anime to Dodgers stadium.
Taking place on July 3, the licensed One Piece Night activation will coincide with the Major League Baseball teams’ upcoming game against the Chicago White Sox.
The single-day event will feature a variety of One Piece-inspired offers and activations located in and around Dodger’s Stadium.
These activations will include a free give-away of co-branded straw hats to the first 40,000 ticketed fans in attendance and a special drone show featuring licensed characters from the anime series.
“We’re thrilled to partner with the Los Angeles Dodgers to bring the global hit series One Piece to Dodger Stadium on July 3 for a very special one-day promotion,” said Toei Animation senior director, Lisa Yamatoya. “We invite fans to join us for One Piece Night, which will offer a truly memorable, one-of-a-kind entertainment experience, complete with a not-to-be-missed One Piece drone show after the game!”
Based on a manga series by Eiichiro Oda, One Piece is an adventure-fantasy anime series produced by Toei Animation.
The franchise first debuted on Japanese TV in 1999 and has since become one of the most popular anime in Japan and around the world.
The series follows a pirate called Monkey D. Luffy and his crew during their epic quest to find One Piece, a treasure belonging to the former King of the Pirates, Gol D. Roger.
Since its initial debut, the franchise has released numerous expansions that span feature films, video games, trading cards, location-based entertainment and an extensive catalog of licensed merchandise.
“This exciting partnership between the Dodgers and Toei Animation will bring a fun-filled event to Dodger Stadium,” said Los Angeles Dodgers EVP, Lon Rosen. “It’s great to showcase One Piece, one of the most popular franchises in the world, to the best fan base in the world.”
A division of the Japanese entertainment studio Toei Animation, Toei Animation Inc. is responsible for managing the international distribution and licensing of the studio’s anime franchises and intellectual properties.
This includes global franchises like Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, Digimon, Saint Seiya and more.
