Ron Garfield is leaving Sony Pictures Television to become the executive vice president and general manager of FremantleMedia North America’s new Buzzr TV digital network, which is scheduled to launch in 17 markets this summer.Anna Kislevitz is appointed Senior Manager Licensing and Merchandising for 41 Entertainment where she will work with key brands like Classic PAC-Man plus Kong-King of the Apes.American Greetings Properties announces a number of executive moves in the wake of its recent sale of Strawberry Shortcake to Iconix and refocusing on Care Bears, including the hiring of Karen Vermeulen as head of global sales and co-productions, and the promotions of Janice Ross from VP of marketing to head of global licensing, Megan Buettner from VP of creative to head of creative studio and new media, Angelina Castro from director of public relations to head of marketing.

Focusing on the other side of the Strawberry Shortcake deal, Iconix Brand Group appoints Cathy Hoffman Glosser senior vice president of licensing and retail business for Iconix’s entertainment division with responsibility for leading development of the newly acquired Strawberry Shortcake brand.

Jacqueline Hofman is hired by Nordic Licensing Company to manage the company’s newly acquired Warner Bros. Consumer Products EMEA account in the Benelux territories. NLC has represented WBCP in the Nordic regions since 2005.

Reg McLay becomes senior vice president of Toys ‘R’ Us’ Babies ‘R’ Us business on March 30. His mandate: lead the U.S. merchandising team and drive product innovation and differentiation in services across Babies ‘R’ Us’ nationwide stores.

DeAPlaneta Group promotes Pio Vernis to marketing director with responsibility for maximizing the synergies between the company’s DeAPlaneta Cina and Planeta Junior operations. Vernis served as DeAPlaneta’s marketing manager between 1995 and 2005, before returning to the company as marketing director of DeAPlaneta Cine in 2013.

Dave Powers is promoted to president of Deckers Brands where he will lead the organization and its Ugg, Teva, Sanuk, Ahnu and Hoka One brand teams. Before joining Deckers in 2012, Dave held leadership positions at Converse, Timberland and Gap.

Peter Maule joins sports and live-event entertainment company Nitro Circus as its new global head of licensing. The former Disney and Nelvana Enterprises exec will be responsible for developing Nitro’s strategic licensing and retail partnerships worldwide across all product categories including home entertainment, video games/apps/mobile, toys, apparel and publishing.

Rachel Marcus, former digital content development producer at Nickelodeon US, joins Toronto’s Guru Studio as its new development executive with responsibility for developing all domestic and international content, sourcing IPs and overseeing strategic positioning.

Liz Brown takes over the newly created position of Licensing Associate, EMEA, for Amscan International where she will support the licensing team across multiple sectors.
