Board Games: The Force Is Strong With This One

September 19, 2022

Asmodee and Z-Man Games, in collaboration with LucasFilm, are releasing a licensed board game based on Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

The upcoming board game is called Star Wars: The Clone Wars – A Pandemic System Game. It is set during the popular Lucasfilm television series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The licensed board game is built using Z-Man Games’ cooperative Pandemic System mechanics.

“Star Wars: The Clone Wars is a powerful saga of heroes coming together to save the galaxy, and this game is no different! It’s also the culmination of a fantastic partnership between one of the world’s biggest franchises and board gaming’s defining cooperative system,” said Sophie Gravel, head of Z-Man Games.

“Our cooperative Pandemic System helps bring iconic Star Wars characters and stories to life – with our Jedi needing to combine Forces to stand a chance against unending waves of Separatist troops. Players will be on the edge of their seat with every playthrough as they fight for victory…and bring balance to the Force.”

The Pandemic System is a well-established, cooperative gameplay framework based on Matt Leacock’s iconic Pandemic board game, which has sold over 15 million copies worldwide.

The system has been adapted to other licensed properties including titles like World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King – A Pandemic System Board Game, Pandemic: Reign of Cthulhu, and Pandemic: Fall of Rome.

In Star Wars: The Clone Wars – A Pandemic System Game, players can choose from seven Jedi characters, each with their own unique Force abilities.

The game includes four different gameplay scenarios where the Jedi must team up and defeat a prominent member of the dark side, such as Count Dooku and General Grievous.

Each scenario can be completed using different Jedi powers, squad members, and objectives, adding high replay value to the board game. The Clone Wars game includes a large board, illustrated cards, and detailed miniatures featuring Jedi heroes, Sith villains, battle droids and starships.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars – A Pandemic System Game is developed by Z-Man Games. Z-Man Games is known for creating award-winning board and card games. Since 1999, the studio has published over 100 critically-acclaimed titles. Z-Man Games is a part of the Asmodee Group.

The Asmodee Group is a leading international games publisher and distributor with over 43 million games sold yearly in more than 50 countries. The Asmodee Group is the publisher of Star Wars: The Clone Wars – A Pandemic System.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars – A Pandemic System Game launches online exclusively at Target in the United States this week. On Oct. 1, the game will be available for purchase worldwide and at other U.S. retailers.
