Disney Expands “Bluey” Experiences Across Theme Parks, Cruises, and Theaters

January 3, 2025

Disney Experiences is partnering with BBC Studios to bring the hit series Bluey to its resorts and cruise lines.

Bluey follows the adventures of a loveable, inexhaustible blue heeler puppy who lives with her parents and little sister, Bingo.

The series is celebrated for its humor, creativity, and heartwarming storytelling that resonates with children and adults alike. Since its debut, the show has won numerous accolades, including a 2024 Peabody Award and consecutive Television Critics Association Awards.

Disney says that in its collaboration with BBC Studios, the characters from Bluey will be coming to Disneyland Resort in California, Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, and Disney Cruise Line voyages. Starting in January 2025, fans of the Emmy-winning series will have the opportunity to meet Bluey and her sister Bingo through unique interactive experiences and special events.

The integration of Bluey into Disney’s offerings highlights the growing popularity of the Australian children’s series. Available in over 140 countries, Bluey has captivated global audiences, becoming the most-watched series on Disney+ in 2024, with more than 50.5 billion minutes viewed in the U.S. alone, according to Nielsen Media Research.

New Experiences for Fans

Disney Cruise Line voyages originating from Australia and New Zealand will debut exclusive Bluey-themed activities. Guests will enjoy meet-and-greets with Bluey and Bingo, participate in interactive, clue-filled games, and conclude with a dance party featuring Bluey’s signature moves. Meanwhile, plans for similar fan experiences at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will be unveiled in the coming months.

“Bluey has become a household name for families around the world, and we are thrilled to bring her story to life in new ways,” said Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences. “We can’t wait to watch our youngest guests and their families make memories with Bluey in our parks and on our cruises.”

Global Film Partnership

As part of its expanded partnership with BBC Studios, Disney has also acquired global theatrical rights for a Bluey feature film.

Produced by Ludo Studio in collaboration with BBC Studios, the movie is slated for a 2027 release under the Disney banner. Following its theatrical debut, the film will stream on Disney+ and air on ABC iview and ABC Kids in Australia.

“The Heeler family’s debut at Disney Theme Parks and Cruises really is the icing on the cake for what has been an exceptional year for Bluey,” said Nicki Sheard, CEO of BBC Studios, Brands and Licensing. “We are committed to creating best-in-class experiences for our fans.”

Ludo Studio, the creators of Bluey, is working closely with BBC Studios and Disney to design immersive fan activations. Charlie Aspinwall, co-founder of Ludo Studio, says he’s excited to see the popular character brought to life in resorts and cruises.

“It’s a lovely day to go boat riding, and we’re incredibly excited that Bluey and Bingo will be sailing on Disney Cruises, bringing Bluey’s magic to families on the high seas,” he said.

Disney Experiences, a division of The Walt Disney Company, is one of the world’s leading providers of family travel and leisure experiences. Operating across six resort destinations, 12 theme parks, and Disney Cruise Line, the division leverages Disney’s iconic franchises to create immersive worlds for guests.

It is unusual for characters that are not created by Disney to be included in Disney Experiences resorts or cruises, which in itself is a testament to the success of Bluey as an entertainment franchise.
