The Global Licensing Group has unveiled Licensing Unlocked, an educational program designed to bridge the knowledge gap for licensing industry newcomers and provide ongoing learning for seasoned professionals.

Developed in partnership with Licensing International, Licensing Unlocked is the first program of its kind to offer online educational sessions both live and on-demand.

Licensing Unlocked consists of eight learning modules covering key aspects of brand licensing, including legal, financial, creative, and partnership best practices. The program features more than 50 instructional videos, 17 resources and templates, and case studies across industries such as food and beverage, apparel, toys, and entertainment. It is also accredited by Licensing International, ensuring a high standard of industry relevance and expertise.

“We are delighted to launch Licensing Unlocked, a program borne out of clear industry demand for education and onboarding tools for professionals new to the world of brand licensing, extensions, collaborations, and partnerships, as well as companies looking to evaluate the revenue potential it could provide to their business,” said Anna Clarke, Senior Vice President of Global Licensing Group at Informa Markets. “It also represents our commitment to providing accessible, high-quality education alongside our industry-leading events and media content.”

Steve Manners, Vice President of Global Marketing at Licensing International, highlighted the program’s broad benefits for both new and long-time licensing professionals.

“The carefully curated content in Licensing Unlocked will be invaluable to those wanting to understand more about licensing and its potential across every level of the business, including for manufacturers, brand owners, and retailers,” Manners said. “Participants will gain insights from leading industry experts and Licensing International, the leading global trade association for the licensing industry.”

The first module, “Licensing Explained: The ABCs of Brand Licensing,” is led by Susan Bolsover, Founder of Lightbulb Licensing. With over 24 years of experience in brand licensing and consumer products, Bolsover explores how brand licensing benefits businesses and identifies the key players involved in the licensing journey.

“Licensing Unlocked is a game changer for the industry. It provides those new to licensing with the tools and knowledge they need to get started, and it’s a great resource for businesses onboarding new staff or looking to expand their licensing efforts,” said Bolsover.

According to a recent study by Licensing International, global sales of licensed merchandise and services reached $356.5 billion in retail sales in 2023, marking a 4.6% increase from the previous year. As the industry evolves, Licensing Unlocked aims to become an essential resource for brands, retailers, licensees, manufacturers, and licensing agents navigating the complex licensing landscape.

The first module of Licensing Unlocked is free to access. To participate and learn more, visit www.licensingunlocked.com.
