January 18, 2023

King Features and Lefties have partnered on a licensed apparel collection featuring Popeye the Sailorman.

The co-branded collection includes t-shirts, shorts, sweatshirts, socks, pajamas, and jogger pants that feature graphic art inspired by the Popeye franchise.

The Popeye brand is owned by King Features Syndicate, a unit of Hearst Newspapers. King Features is a US-based company that specializes in content distribution, consumer products licensing, and print syndication.

The Popeye x Lefties collection follows several other international fashion collaborations for the Popeye brand, including Von Dutch, Iceberg, Intimissimi Uomo, Zara and more.

The licensing deal with Lefties was negotiated by Caravanserai Partners, King Feature’s local agent in Spain.

“Caravanserai is very proud to help our beloved Popeye grow their presence in the worldwide fashion industry through strong partners like Lefties,” said Caravanserai’s Guillem Rey. “The continuous presence of this characters in the top retailers around the world, especially during these past challenging years, prove the strength, utility and awareness of their iconic status.”

Lefties is an affordable fashion brand based in Spain that provides footwear, accessories, leisurewear and sportswear collections to people of all ages, genders, and sizes. Lefties is part of the global fashion distribution network, Inditex Group.

“Lefties is one of the most sought-after affordable brands and we are thrilled to work together to bring this collection of stylish and inclusive designs to the global market,” said King Features VP, Carla Silva.

The Popeye x Lefties collection debuted worldwide this past Fall exclusively at Lefties’ e-commerce website and retail stores.
