The Lego Group and Asmodee have launched a multi-year licensing partnership to create and distribute board games through their new collaborative studio, Dotted Games.
Through the Dotted Games studio, the Lego Group and Asmodee will create a wide range of high-quality board games that incorporate Lego bricks and building mechanics.
“We are thrilled to announce our collaboration with Asmodee – it has been a truly inspiring journey,” said Lego Publishing lead, Jaume Fabregat. “By combining Asmodee’s extensive expertise in board games with the limitless potential of the Lego system, we are unlocking exponential possibilities for innovation in play,” added Fabregat. “This partnership paves the way for future collaborations that will redefine the LEGO building experience within the tabletop landscape, offering fans unique and distinctive play experiences.”
The first collaborative board game that will be launched for the Asmodee and Lego partnership is Monkey Palace by experienced tabletop game designers David Gordon and Tin Aung Myaing.
Announced earlier this year, Monkey Palace is a jungle-themed strategy game that incorporates both collaborative and competitive gameplay elements.
Tailored for two to four players, participants of the upcoming Monkey Palace board game are tasked with competing against each other to create longer and taller staircases to get bricks and banana points to help a monkey rebuild the eponymous Monkey Palace.
The licensed game will officially debut at the Essen Spiel board game trade fair in Germany on Oct. 3.
The next game in development from the Dotted Games studio is a Lego-themed family party game called Brick Like This!.
Brick Like This! is a collaborative board game that uses teamwork, communication and Lego brick building to drive its family-friendly gameplay experience.

Asmodee is a French game company that specializes in developing and publishing board games, tabletop role-playing games and card games that are based on wholly-owned IP and licensed brands.
A part of the Embracer Group, Asmodee currently operates in multiple regions across Europe, North America, South America and Asia.
