LEGO and Pokémon Join Forces to Build an Exciting New Play Experience

March 18, 2025

By Gary Symons

In a partnership set to capture fans brick by brick, the LEGO Group and The Pokémon Company International have announced a multi-year collaboration to bring LEGO Pokémon to life starting in 2026. This marks the first time the beloved world of Pokémon will be recreated in LEGO form, offering Trainers and builders an entirely new way to catch ’em all.

Since its debut, the Pokémon franchise has inspired fans to become ‘Trainers,’ embarking on adventures to collect and battle their favorite creatures. With this innovative collaboration, those adventures will extend into the world of LEGO, allowing fans to construct their favorite Pokémon characters and environments one block at a time.

“We are thrilled to be working with a brand that has such a deep and passionate fanbase as Pokémon, partnering to give our joint audiences what they have been asking us for,” said Julia Goldin, Chief Product & Marketing Officer at the LEGO Group. “We strongly believe that through the endless possibilities of LEGO play and the exciting adventures the world of Pokémon brings, this partnership will create a range of new possibilities for Trainers and builders alike.”

Gaku Susai, Chief Product and Experience Officer at The Pokémon Company International, emphasized the shared values of creativity and imagination between the two brands.

“Working with the best-in-class team at the LEGO Group, and seeing their dedication and passion for the project, has culminated in an innovative and groundbreaking collaboration that will surprise and delight fans.

“We cannot wait to see both LEGO fans and the Pokémon community’s reactions in 2026.”

Both companies have a legacy of pushing the boundaries of play, making this partnership a natural evolution of their respective brands.

The Pokémon franchise has a long history in brand licensing, expanding its reach through trading cards, video games, television series, films, and a wide array of merchandise collaborations with major global brands. Pokémon-themed toys, apparel, and collectibles have maintained strong popularity, ensuring its status as a dominant force in entertainment merchandising.

The LEGO Group, known for its innovative approach to licensed sets, has similarly partnered with franchises such as Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Super Mario, creating immersive building experiences for fans of all ages.

This latest collaboration with Pokémon aligns with LEGO’s strategy of combining beloved pop culture brands with its renowned brick-building system, providing interactive and creative play opportunities for collectors and young builders alike.

With LEGO Pokémon set to make its grand debut in 2026, fans are encouraged to keep their Pokédex ready and their bricks stacked for updates on this exciting venture.
