Lexus Unveils “Wicked”-Inspired Vehicles Ahead of Film’s Los Angeles Premiere

November 8, 2024

TLL Staff

In a creative collaboration with Universal Pictures, Lexus has revealed two custom-wrapped vehicles inspired by the beloved witches of Oz in the upcoming cinematic adaptation of Wicked.

Set to make their debut at the green-carpet premiere on November 9 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles, the eye-catching Elphaba TX and Glinda TX models channel the film’s characters through unique, bespoke designs.

The release of these character-themed vehicles coincides with Universal Pictures’ Wicked, directed by Jon M. Chu, which is set to open in theaters on November 22. Designed to offer fans an “OZmazing” experience, each car reflects the iconic personalities of Glinda and Elphaba while showcasing Lexus’s commitment to luxury, style, and innovative technology.

“We’ve designed each vehicle to capture the magic of Wicked and bring the cinematic experience to life for its passionate fans,” said Cynthia Tenhouse, Lexus’s vice president of marketing. “Just as Glinda and Elphaba each possess distinct powers and vibrant personalities, these customized vehicles spotlight their distinctive styles, ensuring that fans ‘Experience OZmazing’.”

Inspired by the enchanting architecture of the film’s Emerald City, both vehicles embrace a refined Art Deco aesthetic. The Glinda TX, dressed in electric pink with shimmering gold accents and a “CUSTOMPOPULR” vanity plate, captures the character’s bubbly elegance. The design, complete with pink underglow lighting, evokes Glinda’s magical, glittering world.

In contrast, the Elphaba TX has a bold, emerald-green exterior with gold highlights and green underglow lighting. This sleek, edgy look reflects the resilience and mystery of Elphaba’s character, complete with the playful “DFY GRVTY” plate that nods to the character’s soaring anthem.

Flexible Cargo Space for Witches on the Go

Both custom vehicles are based on Lexus’s three-row TX, offering spacious seating and luxurious materials that are ideal for a character as social as Glinda. With ample legroom and versatile seating, the TX allows the vehicle to comfortably transport friends and essentials—whether that’s party gear for Glinda or Elphaba’s spellbinding supplies.

Lexus has also integrated its signature technology, including a 14-inch multimedia touchscreen display in both vehicles. With the hybrid-powered TX, Elphaba’s ride delivers both strength and sophistication, while the high-quality sound system supports effortless sing-alongs on any journey.

Designed to meet the needs of both characters, the Lexus TX offers nearly 97 cubic feet of total cargo space when the second and third rows are folded down, making it as functional as it is stylish. With all seats up, it provides 20.2 cubic feet of storage space, ideal for anything from Glinda’s gowns to Elphaba’s spellbooks.

The unveiling of the Elphaba and Glinda TX models not only adds to the excitement surrounding Wicked’s release but also highlights Lexus’s focus on pairing innovation with cultural moments.
