Maple Casino Sets The Odds For Top 10 Netflix 2022 Releases in Canada

December 14, 2021

As 2021 comes to an end, Maple Casino has analyzed monthly online searches for Netflix 2022 releases to find the shows people are most looking forward to next year.

Maple Casino is the main authority for online casino business in Canada.

“Netflix is the biggest streaming service in the world, and the company had an amazing 2021 with huge releases such as Squid Game and season 3 of Sex Education,” a spokesperson for MapleCasino said.

“The data shows that the fourth season of Stranger Things is set to be one of the biggest releases in 2022, along with Resident Evil and Never Have I Ever. Whatever people are planning to watch next year, it looks like it will be another successful year for Netflix based on the searches alone.”

That data is important for licensees, as properties are often signed up for licensing deals before it’s known whether a series or a particular season will be popular. The data from Maple Casinos would seem to indicate most licensees would be keen to bet on Stranger Things or Resident Evil in 2022.

Analysis of the data revealed that the fourth season of the popular horror series, Stranger Things, is Canada’s most searched Netflix show. It holds the lead with an average of 49,000 searches each month.

The second most popular 2022 Netflix release is the live action series Resident Evil, which is licensed from the widely popular and long standing video game series of the same name. This upcoming adaptation has been searched an average of 32,000 times each month over the past 12 months.

The third most anticipated Netflix show is the third season of Never Have I Ever. The new season of the comedy-drama series received an estimated 24,000 searches every month. The fourth most searched for show is the historical-drama series, The Crown, which is set to release its fifth season in 2022. The Crown received 15,000 searches across Canada per month. It is possible the Crown is more popular in Canada than the US, however, given Queen Elizabeth II remains the titular head of state for our neighbor to the north.

Season two of the romance series, Firefly Lane, is the fifth most anticipated Netflix release for 2022; with monthly searches at an average of 9,500 per month. Sweet Magnolias, another romance series, is sixth on the list of most popular future releases in Canada. The upcoming second season of the show generated about 8,000 searches by Canadians each month.

At number seven on the list, the anticipated seventh season of comedy-drama series Grace and Frankie has been searched 4,700 times a month in Canada, while the supernatural drama show Manifest’s fourth season takes the eighth spot on the list.

Japanese suspense series, Alice in Borderlands season two, takes ninth place on the list and the third season of The Umbrella Academy, a superhero show based on a comic series by Gerard Way, finishes off the list with 3,400 people searching for it every month.
