Experiential Licensing: Mojang Studios Announces Real World Minecraft Experience

May 29, 2024

By Allison Watkinson
TLL Reporter
Mojang Studios and Experience MOD have announced a licensed in-person experiential event called Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue.
“We’re thrilled to introduce the first-ever immersive touring Minecraft experience where guests can follow a quest through the Minecraft Overworld in real life,” said Mojang Studios head, Kayleen Walters. “Starting in Dallas later this year, players will have their dreams of a Minecraft adventure brought to life. Finding ways for our community to express their love for Minecraft both in-game and out is always top of mind for us.”
Created as part of Minecraft’s 15th anniversary celebration, Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue offers attendees an interactive story-based scavenger hunt quest experience that features real-world recreations of creatures and settings from the Minecraft video game.
The creatures and locations featured in the experience will include Minecraft block-inspired creepers, skeletons, pandas, spiders, dolphins and more across multiple biomes and structures from the licensed video game franchise.
The Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue! event was produced by Experience Mod and its partner company, Supply + Demand, in collaboration with Mojang Studios.
Supply + Demand is an experienced full-service agency that offers creative development, production and consulting services for immersive multimedia experiences and live events.
The core team at Supply + Demand includes 30 talented artists that specialize in creating high-quality narrative-driven content.
The Supply + Demand team is led by the agency’s CEO, Olivier Goulet, who also served as executive producer for the new Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue event.
“Minecraft Experience is an adventure unlike anything we have ever created,” said Supply + Demand CEO, Olivier Goulet. “The collaboration between our creative and producing team and the teams at Mojang and Microsoft has created an entirely new form of in-person experience at the crossroads of game design, experiential storytelling, and high-tech multimedia.”
Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue is scheduled to debut in Dallas, Texas on Sept. 20, 2024.
The licensed Minecraft event will also go on tour to additional cities around the world following its initial launch.
Other cities included in the touring schedule will be announced at a later date.
Tickets for the event go on sale to the general public beginning on June 3 and a wait-list for an  exclusive presale opportunity is currently available to fans for the upcoming Dallas event.
Created by Mojang Studios, Minecraft is a massively popular video game franchise that focuses on the core game-play mechanics of building with blocks and going on adventures.
The Minecraft franchise continues to reach new players through ongoing updates, new spin-off gaming properties, an extensive licensing program, an upcoming movie and more. Mojang Studios became an official  subsidiary of Microsoft in 2014.
