Licensed Star Wars Oreo Cookies Rocket into Retail Market

Mondelēz International’s Oreo brand is releasing officially licensed Star Wars Oreo Cookies in collaboration with Lucasfilm.
The special-edition Star Wars Oreo Cookie collaboration includes two variations for the dark side and light side factions of the Star Wars science-fiction franchise.
“Pairing two tremendously loved communities to launch the Star Wars Oreo Cookie Packs has been an amazing experience,” said Oreo US senior brand manager, Nicole Fischer. “We are continuing to make strides to cement our brand’s cultural relevance via strategic collaborations. We hope fans see how much we loved bringing their favorite stories to life, and that they have fun discovering the details we’ve included at every touchpoint.”
The dark side and light side varieties of the new Star Wars Oreo Cookie products are distinguished by their different cookie creme colors that are designed to match each faction’s typical Lightsaber color.
The Star Wars creme colors are red for the dark side and blue for the light side.
Both of the licensed Oreo Cookie varieties also feature detailed images of ten Star Wars characters from either the dark or light side of the Force.
The dark side Oreo packs will include villainous characters from the Sith Order such as Darth Vader, Stormtrooper soldiers, Darth Maul and more.
The light side Oreo packs will feature popular Jedi heroes from the franchise such as Princess Leia,  Luke Skywalker, Yoda and more.
The exterior packaging for the special-edition Star Wars Oreos features original hand-painted character artwork by long-standing Star Wars poster illustrator, Greg Hildebrandt.
Both variations of the Star Wars Oreo packs are offered in identical exterior packaging so that the Force alignment of the cookies will remain a surprise until the pack is actually opened.
“The tremendous fandom between Star Wars and the Oreo brand has made this strategic partnership such a fun collaboration and we hope fanbases of both communities are just as excited about the launch of Star Wars Oreo Cookie Packs as we are,” said Oreo Canada brand manager, Colleen Bowker. “The Oreo brand always strives to connect with our dedicated fans in new and unexpected ways through culturally relevant moments – making this partnership between two iconic properties such a natural fit.”
The pre-sale for the new Star Wars Oreo Cookie packs began on May 30 through the official Star Wars page of the Oreo website.
The co-branded products will debut at retailers nationwide and in select international regions beginning on June 10, 2024.
