Phone Home, With Funko’s Board Game Based On E.T. The Extra Terrestrial

January 25, 2022

Funko Games has unveiled a new board game inspired by E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial for its 2022 lineup.

The new game is called E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial: Light Years From Home. It will be released across North America and Europe in the summer of 2022.

Funko Games came into being in 2019, after Funko Inc. acquired notable board game development studio, Forrest-Pruzan Creative. The company has since focused on publishing strategy games across a variety of licensed brands.

Inspired by the classic film from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, the board game’s arrival will be timed for the film’s 40th anniversary this year.

The game will feature cooperative gameplay for 2–4 players that re-creates the film’s iconic bicycle chase scene.

Players will control the main characters from the movie as they attempt to find the parts to make an interstellar communication device and return E.T. to his home planet before his heart-light fades.

The game features a beautifully illustrated board, components, and miniatures—including a miniature E.T. that fits inside the kids’ bicycle basket.
