Cambridge Satchel and Rocket Licensing Bring Miffy to Leather Goods

April 29, 2025

Rocket Licensing has secured a partnership with Cambridge Satchels to create a licensed capsule collection to celebrate the Miffy brand’s 70th anniversary.

“This year celebrates the design icon Miffy as she turns 70 — and she’s never looked better,” said Mercis managing director, Marja Kerkhof. “This very special collaboration, which brings together Miffy’s playful charm with the craftsmanship and heritage of Cambridge Satchel, is a perfect tribute: bold, joyful and refreshingly timeless — much like Miffy herself.”

Owned by Mercis, Miffy is a children’s entertainment and character brand that was first created in 1955 by Dutch artist Dick Bruna.

Since its initial creation, the character has been featured across picture books, licensed products, TV series, live exhibitions, online content a feature film and more.

“We were thrilled to be invited to work with one of the world’s best-known and loved brands, as our classic designs with pops of colour compliment the world of Miffy – and our customers will be thrilled to see this new collaboration,” said Cambridge Satchel sales director, Sandra Duke. “Miffy is a perfect addition to our range as part of the 70th anniversary, a design classic whose wit and charm is a glorious addition to our collections.”

The licensed capsule collection from Cambridge Satchel offers a range of leather goods that depict different minimalist designs of Miffy.

Inspired by illustrations from the brand’s picture books, the full collection includes purses, keyrings, stationery, cross-body bags, satchels, cotton totes, airpod cases, backpacks, notebooks, key charms and bookmarks.

“This exciting new partnership with Cambridge Satchel is a design masterclass, combining the simplicity and instant recognisability of Miffy with equally striking colour schemes in a range of superior-quality leather goods that are both superbly made and highly desirable,” said Rocket Licensing joint managing director, Charlie Donaldson. “This range will, I am sure, be another massive success for both Cambridge Satchel and Miffy.”

The first Miffy leather collection is available to shop through Cambridge Satchel’s retail stores and e-commerce platforms around the world.

A second collection from the company is scheduled to drop later this year, which will focus on small, functional items such as a coin wallet, a card holder, a pencil case, a ruler, a passport case and luggage labels.

Founded in 2008, Cambridge Satchel is a British fashion brand that designs and manufactures high-quality, handcrafted leather goods.

The company is best-known for its bright colored bags, quirky licensing collaborations and its commitment to ethically-sourced leather.

Rocket Licensing manages the UK licensing rights to the Miffy brand on behalf of its owner, Mercis.

Established in 2007, Rocket Licensing is an independent licensing and brand development company that represents a roster of brands that span the entertainment, preschool, heritage and lifestyle industries.
