July 24, 2023

By Allison Watkinson

 TLL Reporter

San Diego Comic Convention has partnered with Entertainment Cruise Productions to launch a licensed experiential event called Comic-Con: The Cruise.

Entertainment Cruise Productions is a cruise agency that has produced more than seventy-five full-ship charters for an extensive range of genres and brands. The agency’s services include full ship charters, talent acquisition, marketing, production, guest relations, and logistics.

“Comic-Con is unrivaled in creating a community that brings people together for experiences you can’t find anywhere else,” said Entertainment Cruise Productions director, Greg Laubach. “It’s what we love to do, and we have designed Comic-Con: The Cruise to be a one-of-a-kind ultimate fan adventure.”

The Comic-Con: The Cruise event will feature nightly shows and events such as Talent Hosted tastings, trivia sessions, live demonstrations, theme night parties, cosplay events, gaming competitions, merch vendors, group panels, Q&A sessions, celebrity meet-and-greets, photo sessions, autograph signing, and more.

In addition to providing entertainment, the Comic-Con stars and creators will dine, party, and interact with the guests throughout the duration of the cruise.

“With a stellar reputation for producing fan events on the ocean, we are excited that Entertainment Cruise Productions has developed Comic-Con: The Cruise to be a truly new kind of adventure,” said San Diego Comic-Con CCO, David Glanzer. “The team at ECP shares our passion for transformational events and innovative programming and we are excited they are building something so amazing.”

Comic-Con: The Cruise will take place on Royal Caribbean’s Serenade of the Seas cruise ship.

The cruise ship features luxury accommodations, a casino, a pool, a 40-ft rock climbing wall, mini golf, a spa, multiple restaurants and bars, and several entertainment venues for performances, events, and activities.

Taking place from Feb. 5 to 9 2025, Comic Con: The Cruise will follow a path from Tampa, Florida to Cozumel, Mexico. Cozumel is an island located in the Caribbean Sea that is known for its white-sand beaches, mangrove forests, and coral reefs.

Cabin rates for Comic-Con: The Cruise begin at $990 per person, which includes all performances, interviews, parties, meals and events.

The San Diego Comic Convention (Comic-Con International) is a nonprofit public benefit corporation that works to raise awareness and appreciation for comics and related art forms.

The organization provides support and participation for public presentations, conventions, exhibits, museums and other public outreach activities related to the contribution of comics to art and culture.
