On International Joke Day, Sesame Street kicked off its Gift of Giggles campaign to share smiles, humor, and joy across the globe.
The Gift of Giggles campaign is part of Sesame Workshop’s ongoing initiative to support emotional well-being and mental health awareness for young children and their families.
“With its signature mix of laughter and learning, Sesame Street creates experiences that enrich minds and expand hearts around the world,” said Sesame Workshop EVP, Samantha Maltin. “At a time when children need joy more than ever, the Gift of Giggles campaign will support their emotional well-being, with a healthy dose of laughter.
“Whether you’re learning about healthy habits, social-emotional skills, or the ABCs, humor can turn a simple moment into an unforgettable lesson.”
Sesame Workshop’s Gift of Giggles campaign includes a variety of educational activations across a wide range of physical, digital and live entertainment platforms.
The Sesame Street branded activations include a digital series called The Giggle Group, a YouTube playlist featuring collaborations with YouTubers and celebrities called A Gift of Giggles, a new Sesame Street comedy tour, an interactive digital game on Sesame Street’s official website, new themed Sesame Street books and more.
The new Sesame Street books and stories that have been announced for the Gift of Giggles campaign include an Elmo’s Favorite Jokes and Riddles flip-board book from Random House Books for Young Readers, 100 Words from the Street: Words to Grow Smarter, Stronger, & Kinder from Sourcebooks Wonderland, and a line of Sesame Street: Let’s Have Some Fun storytelling cards from Yoto.
The campaign will continue throughout the coming months with additional branded streaming specials, digital content, live experiences and licensed products.
In Latin America, the Gift of Giggles campaign will be called ELMOcionado Ja Ja Ja (translated as Elmo is Excited Ha Ha Ha). The campaign will run as Kichern und Lachen mit der Sesamstrasse (Giggle and Laugh with Sesame Street) in Germany.
Sesame Workshop is a global nonprofit organization that is best-known for creating the Sesame Street children’s series and entertainment franchise.
