The Met and Sedar Global Partner on Licensed Home Goods

November 1, 2024

By Allison Watkinson

TLL Reporter

The Met has partnered with Sedar Global for a collaborative home goods collection that features licensed art pieces from The Met’s archive.

The collaborative partnership will encompass multiple distinct product ranges that focus on different artistic themes.

The licensed collections will include a range of product categories such as wallpaper, curtains, roller blinds, pillows and upholstery.

“We are so pleased to be working with Sedar Global to put forth an inspiring offering of home accents,” said The Met licensing head, Josh Romm. “This licensed collaboration brings art to life in unexpected ways as customers create their own collections juxtaposing works from The Met with modern design.

“In keeping with our mission to reveal insightful connections across time and place, we hope that this collaboration will spark a dialogue about art, history and design.”

The first collaborative collection featured themes inspired by nature and launched across Sedar Global stores in the MENA region beginning in June 2024.

The initial range of Sedar Global products featured artistic works from well-known artists such as Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, Katsushika Hokusai, Gustav Klimt, Jackson Pollock and Rembrandt van Rijin.

“This collaboration with The Metropolitan Museum of Art marks and honours our 135-year legacy, blending our rich heritage in interiors with The Met’s prestigious art history,” said Sedar Global head, Besher Mahayri. “It’s an invitation for our customers to bring and fuse these timeless pieces into contemporary living spaces. We’re excited to merge global artistic narratives into the heart of every home, crafting spaces that are as unique and cherished as the artworks themselves.”

Future collections for the licensing partnership will draw inspiration from works across a range of artistic mediums including paintings, drawings, antique furniture, costumes and more.

Sedar Global is a home furnishings company that specializes in the design, manufacturing and installation of high-quality windows and wall décor.

Sedar Global offers a wide range of products in collaboration with high-profile brands such as Marco Polo, Fujikawa, Amazona, Jannelli & Volpi, Swarovski, Roberto Cavalli, Versace, Somfy, York Weave and more.

Initially founded in 1870, The Met is an American museum and gallery that provides art education and displays to the public through its extensive historical archive.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art displays tens of thousands of cultural artifacts and artistic works across approximately 5,000 years of human history.

The Museum currently operates two NYC locations, The Met Fifth Avenue and The Met Cloisters, in addition to an online museum experience through its official website.
