The New Canadian Eatery Inspired by LEGO Bricks

July 5, 2023

This isn’t technically a licensing story, but a new pop-up restaurant in Vancouver, Canada certainly does demonstrate the power of brands.
The new eatery Brick Burger will open for two days, serving up food that is created in the shape and color of familiar LEGO bricks.
It is not a licensed LEGO collaboration, however, as the organizers make it clear that the brick-shaped burgers are inspired by building blocks in general.
The organizers make that very clear in their announcement, saying, “LEGO®, the LEGO logo, are trademarks of the LEGO Group of companies which does not sponsor, authorize or endorse this event. This experience is being put together as a fun two-day event that will be taking place starting on September 30 at a location on East Georgia Street in Downtown Vancouver.”
Burgers shaped like LEGO? We guess the idea just clicked with someone.

The Brick Burger will open from on Sept. 20 and Oct. 1 in Vancouver’s downtown core, giving kids of all ages the chance “to unleash your creativity and build your burger masterpiece from a selection of colourful and delicious bricks.”

“Our menu features a range of classic and specialty bricks made from the freshest and highest quality ingredients, so you can be sure that every bite will be a flavour explosion,” the organizers say. “Whether you’re in the mood for a juicy beef patty, a crispy chicken fillet, or a hearty veggie option, our selection of bricks has something for everyone.”

The restaurant itself also follows the theme, as it will be constructed with colorful brick walls, themed furniture, and a brick building station where the kids can spend time making a plastic version of their cheeseburger.

While this event has been advertised as a two-day pop-up experience, the company’s site does leave behind some clues that it may lead to a permanent venue. “For families with young children, Brick Burger is the perfect destination for a day out,” the company says. “Our kid-friendly environment and menu options make it easy to keep the little ones entertained and satisfied. And for the more competitive diners, we host weekly brick-building competitions where you can show off your building skills and win some awesome prizes.”

As well, it appears a second Brick Burger will be opening in Toronto in October.
