Spin Master has announced a new multiplatform children’s franchise called Unicorn Academy, which will debut with a Netflix-original animated series.
Spin Master is a global children’s entertainment company that specializes in creating toys, entertainment content, and digital games. With distribution in over 100 countries, Spin Master creates and produces multiplatform content through its in-house studio and through licensing partnerships with outside creators.
The Unicorn Academy animated series is produced by Spin Master Entertainment and distributed by the Netflix streaming service. Unicorn Academy will debut with a movie premiere event, followed by episodic content for release this fall. Spin Master has plans to release a toy collection, a digital game and an extensive licensed consumer product program for the franchise in 2024.
“Our team has done an amazing job of bringing the magic of Unicorn Academy across all play patterns,” said Spin Master CEO, Max Rangel. “We want to be where kids are; whether it’s in toy boxes, on their TV screens, or on digital devices, Unicorn Academy will be there to ignite, engage and inspire new fans. Kids are going to fall in love with the experience of connecting with the characters and entering the world of Unicorn Island. This is our biggest production to date because we truly believe this will resonate with a generation of kids on various play platforms.”
The Unicorn Academy animated series is based on a series of books written by Julie Sykes and illustrated by Lucy Truman. The books are published by Nosy Crow internationally and by Penguin Random House in North America.

Spin Master has additional short and long-form content planned for release through 2025 for the Unicorn Academy franchise including an official companion tie-in novelization to be published and sold internationally by Nosy Crow.
