October 11, 2023

Surge Licensing and Genuine Entertainment have secured a range of licensing partners for several of Webtoon’s top-performing Webtoon Originals.
The new licensing partners for the Webtoon’s platform include Bioworld, Walter Foster, FiGPiN, and Event Merchandising.
The licensed fashion manufacturer, Bioworld, has been appointed as the master apparel partner for Webtoon Originals.
The Walter Foster publishing company has been named Webtoon’s official partner for instructional drawing books.
FiGPiN will produce Webtoon Originals-themed collectibles such as enamel pins and trading cards across their Cyber Cel, FiGPiN, FiGPiN Mystery and FiGPiN brands.
Webtoon’s new partners will initially focus on creating products and digital content for some of Webtoon’s most popular comics such as Lore Olympus, UnOrdinary, True Beauty, and Tower of God.
Other Webtoon Originals that will be part of the new licensing initiatives are Cursed Princess Club, Hooky, Boyfriends, Morgana & Oz, and more.
“WEBTOON boasts some of the largest fandoms around the globe and a goldmine of content they love to explore,” said Surge Licensing’s EVP, Elan Freedman. “We look forward to working with these best-in-class partners to create a range of unique and stylish products, built with the DNA of the brands embedded and spark engagement from the vast community of fans around the world.”
Event Merchandising has signed on as Webtoon’s new ecommerce partner.
In this new position, Event Merchandising will be responsible for building an official webstore for licensed Webtoon product collections.
The official Webtoon webstore will host competitions, promotions and exclusive licensed products based on the company’s portfolio of entertainment IPs.
“We are thrilled to work with Surge Licensing to bring more of the Webtoon universe to fans worldwide through a new range of branded products based on some of our most successful titles, as well as to offer an online shopping experience through our new ecommerce platform,” said Webtoon head, Sandy Resnick. “This is just the beginning of our licensing and retail expansion,  as we continue to create new ways for fans to celebrate the incredible creators and content on Webtoon.”
Webtoon is an international digital comics platform with over 170 million monthly active readers worldwide.
A number of digital comics from WEBTOON have been adapted into live-action and animated TV series on platforms such as Netflix and Crunchyroll.
Surge Licensing and Genuine Entertainment collectively serve as the exclusive licensing agencies for WEBTOON Entertainment.
Founded in 1986, Surge Licensing is an IP incubation company that grows brands into multi-platform entertainment and consumer product franchises.
Genuine Entertainment is a management company that specializes in helping companies and franchises expand through strategic business development, production, licensing and merchandising programs.
