The global trade association Licensing International has named retail expert Lisa Sweeney as its new MD for Australia and New Zealand.
“Lisa’s expertise in retail will be instrumental as we work to expand our offerings in Australia and New Zealand,” said Maura Regan, President of Licensing International. “We are thrilled to welcome her as our newest MD and look forward to working closely with her as we continue to grow in the region.”
Based in Melbourne, Sweeney will be responsible for supporting Licensing International’s Australian and New Zealand members through networking opportunities, educational programs, and expanded retail initiatives.
“I am excited to collaborate with the Licensing International team and support the brand licensing community across Australia and New Zealand in this new role,” said Sweeney. “The market here is tough and licensing provides a fabulous opportunity for retailers to engage with their customers differently. I can’t wait to share the global best practices.”
Sweeney is CEO-Director of Business in Heels International, an organization that fast-tracks women on their road to success through mentoring, education, marketing, and events like the Women in Retail Leadership Summit and the Gender Equity Awards for Australia.
She previously spent 25 years in retail, many of them with Target, where she was responsible for Licensing, Toys, and Leisure.
Sweeney is taking on the role effective August 1, 2024.
