Panini and OneTeam To Include NCAA Athletes On Trading Cards

By Gary Symons TLL Editor in Chief Recent rule changes at the NCAA are sparking a boom in licensing opportunities, among them a new deal that will allow Panini America to issue trading cards featuring college athletes. The NCAA announced on July 1 that it would allow college athletes to profit from their name, image and likeness, or NIL. As a result, Panini America says it has signed an “exclusive landmark agreement” with OneTeam Partners. The deal gives Panini the right to produce and sell college sports trading cards for any athlete who opts in to OneTeam’s College Athlete Group Licensing Program. BBC Signs Trio Of US Deals For Doctor Who

BBC Studios’ long-running hit Doctor Who continues to soar in licensing circles, as the studio has signed on three new partners. “Fans are the lifeblood of Doctor Who,” said Suzy Raia, the VP of Licensing at BBC Studios Americas. “Those who have been along for the ride for decades will enjoy adding these collectibles to their collections—and if you’re just joining us, these are great gifts for the Doctor Who newbie in your life as well.” The studio says its agreement with Hallmark, one of the world’s largest card and collectible companies, will result in the launch of new Doctor Who collectables, including a TARDIS Keepsake Ornament with Light and Sound and The Fourth Doctor Keepsake Ornament. SpongeBob Says “I’m Ready!” For Fanattik Partnership

The world’s most popular sponge is heading for Europe this summer, as pop culture company Fanattik signed a licensing deal for Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants franchise. The deal, signed with ViacomCBS Consumer Products, will allow Fanattik to create SpongeBob-themed home decor, gifts, collectibles, and barware. The collection is expected to hit the European market beginning in September. Stamp Collection A Global First For Minecraft

Microsoft’s Australian and New Zealand licensing agency for Minecraft, Merchantwise Licensing, has secured another world first for the brand with Australia Post set to produce a brand-new Minecraft themed licensed stamp pack.
