Group Nine Media Announces Licensing Partnership with Wright’s Media

Wright’s Media, an industry-leading global content licensing agency, this week announced a partnership with Group Nine Media, which owns the popular POPSUGAR and Thrillist. POPSUGAR is an online magazine aimed at millennial women, covering pop culture, health, fashion, celebrities and current events. It is ranked as one of America’s most popular lifestyle brands for women, with 32 million active users and 300 million readers per month. Thrillist is also a lifestyle publication, but with more of a focus on travel, adventure, and entertainment, including food, restaurants, wine and spirits. Centennial in Deal for Specialty Magazines and Books

North Equity LLC, a venture equity firm that owns and operates over 15 media properties, has agreed to terms with Centennial Media to produce special interest magazines and books for Popular Science and SAVEUR.  Centennial, a leading book and magazine publisher that specializes in richly illustrated publications, will produce six single-topic, Special Interest Publications (SIPs) for Popular Science, and three for SAVEUR, in 2021. They will also publish two children’s books for Popular Science to bring kids the fascinating science behind everyday topics and engage them in STEAM subjects. Google Gives Ground in War Over Who Pays For News

By Gary Symons TLL Editor in Chief US tech giant Google has announced a new policy to pay for some licensed news content in the UK, after coming under intense fire in Europe and Australia for allegedly profiting from news content without compensating the news organizations that produce that content. Google is now faced with new legislation that could force it to pay massive sums to news organizations, in return for posting their content as search results. Sarah Weisinger Takes Key Role at Disney Publishing

Sarah Weisinger, a veteran at The House of Mouse, has taken on a new role as Senior VP and Group Publisher of Disney Publishing Worldwide.
