Best-selling publisher Insight Editions is boosting its collectibles game with the launch of Insight Workshop.
Insight Editions already works in the space. Through its licensed publishing program, Insight Editions produces unique books and products that provide meaningful ways to engage with characters and stories. Insight Editions’ award-winning art and photography titles celebrate the artistry and history of a wide range of subjects, from rock to film to nature conservation.
The new initiative, however, pushes Insight Editions much farther into the collectibles market.
Insight is creating the new division with the addition of top-level creatives from Eaglemoss, a studio known globally for the creation of figures, models, books, and gifts prized by collectors. Those new team members have joined Insight Editions to create Insight Workshop, an innovation lab and imprint that will expand the company’s deluxe, limited edition, book plus, and non-book collectibles. The first Insight Workshop list will launch in Fall 2023.
“We’re thrilled to collaborate with some of the best license-based creative and format innovation talent in this business,” said Raoul Goff, Insight Editions founder and CEO. “It’s a fantastic opportunity to leverage their unique skill sets to develop and expand our gift and collectibles offerings globally.”
The Insight Workshop team now includes:
Ben Robinson, Publishing Director, Product Development, a world-renowned authority on science fiction and fantasy fandoms, particularly Star Trek. Insight says Robinson will use his deep expertise to grow the science fiction and fantasy customer base through new and unique offerings for both retail and direct-to-consumer businesses.
Stella Bradley, Creative Director, an industry veteran with deep knowledge of the brands and fandoms common to both Insight Editions and Eaglemoss, including Star Trek, DC Comics, Harry Potter, and Marvel.
Tracey Hinchliffe, Director, Sourcing & Product Development. Hinchliffe previously managed all operations, sourcing, and traffic for Eaglemoss, in addition to serving on their board in an executive role.
Paul Montague, Product Design Manager, will lead product and packaging design as well as product development for Insight Workshop.
“I am so pleased to join Insight Editions, a company that shares my passion for innovative formats,” Bradley said. “I’ve always loved the way that quality and creativity are at the heart of everything they do. It’s a dream to establish a dedicated collectibles division for the number one pop culture publisher in the world.”
Robinson also said he is thrilled to join the Insight team and to work on the first product launch.
“I’ve always admired Insight Editions from afar,” Robinson said. “Their emphasis on quality and authenticity is very important to me, so I’m very happy to be here and looking forward to creating extraordinary books and products.”
Tara Catogge, Insight Editions’ COO, said the addition of the former Eaglemoss creatives is a critical part of Insight Publishing’s expansion plans, providing the necessary experience to move quickly in a new space.
“We are seeing another year of rapid month-over-month growth, with net sales 30% ahead of expectation,” Catogge explained. “As a part of our strategic plan for expansion, we are making a series of significant investments in our non-book and direct-to-consumer product offerings.
“Knowing how rare these opportunities are, bringing a fully functioning team with expertise from ideation to product delivery into our organization feels like a perfect match.”
