Pininfarina and Globics Announce Licensing Agreement for Watches

November 18, 2022

The posh Italian design firm Pininfarina and Globics Technology will partner on state-of-the-art Hybrid and Smart Watches under the Pininfarina brand.

The deal was brokered by IMG, Pininfarina’s global licensing agency.

The partnership combines the tech smarts of Globics Technology, a wholly-owned subsidiary of National Electronics Limited, and the haute couture fashion sense of Pininfarina.

National Electronics is engaged in the design and development of innovative wearable devices, including hybrid & smart watches that incorporate modern design and the latest technology, to track and analyze personal fitness, wellness, sleep quality and sport functions.

Pininfarina’s role is to bring its signature style to the new line of timepieces. Pininfarina is an Italian car design firm and coachbuilder, headquartered in Italy. As a global icon of Italian style, Pininfarina is recognized for its ability to create timeless beauty through its values of elegance, purity, and innovation.
“The blend and balance of heritage and innovation has characterized Pininfarina for nearly a century,” said Fabio Calorio, Head of UX and ID Sales and Global Brand Extension at Pininfarina. “Our unwavering drive toward the future sees the ideal collaboration with Globics and its unique collection of hybrid watches, where classic aesthetics meld with a cutting-edge technological core.”
Taking inspiration from Pininfarina’s iconic legacy spanning over 92 years, including its groundbreaking designs for some of the most iconic supercars, Globics will utilize its experience in the digital watch world to design, manufacture and distribute for Pininfarina distinctive Hybrid and Smart Watches, melding classic style and contemporary technological substance.
A premier collection under the SENSO brand will launch in December 2022, with a premium timepiece that integrates traditional mechanical dials with electronic sensors for a hybrid watch unlike any other.
“We are very excited to work with Pininfarina in creating a line of watches that will redefine the hybrid smartwatch sector,” said Loewe Lee, Managing Director of Globics Technology. ”Our hybrid smartwatch concept is centered around a classically designed watch with smart technology and capabilities. We wanted to focus on the watch as an aesthetic timepiece while finding a distinctive balance to be a platform for technology.”
The Senso timepiece showcases the premium appeal and classic design of a traditional analogue watch, highlighted by its mechanical dials and hands. Designed with durability in-mind, the watch is water-resistant up to 5ATM, features a SUS 316 Stainless Steel case and bezel with sapphire crystal glass and offers interchangeable Italian leather straps.
As a Hybrid Watch, the Senso is fully integrated with technological sensors to track motion, heart rate, calories burned, total steps, distance traveled and overall sleep. Data is analyzed and managed from a dedicated app available for both Android and iOS devices.
Senso’s Hybrid technology offers its wearer the best of both worlds, integrated with the smartwatch industry’s latest technological innovations alongside a timeless, inspired aesthetic from the world-renowned Italian design brand, Pininfarina.
