Blue Ant Media has officially closed its acquisition of marblemedia and its international sales operation Distribution360.
Blue Ant Media is a privately-held, international media company that owns and operates several branded streaming channels and produces and distributes content across multiple genre categories.
The acquisition of marblemedia is part of Blue Ant Media’s long-term growth strategy that also includes significant global expansion of the company’s global TV broadcast and streaming channels.
Per the terms of the acquisition, Blue Ant Media and marblemedia are merging their production and distribution operations into one unified studio and rights business.
The merged production companies include marblemedia, Blue Ant Studios, Saloon Media and Look Mom! Productions. The merged distribution businesses include Blue Ant International and the global rights management business, Distribution360.
Mark Bishop and Matthew Hornburg will serve as co-presidents of the newly-unified business venture. Hornburg and Bishop will operate from Blue Ant Media’s Toronto office and report to the company’s CEO, Michael MacMillan.
“Marblemedia has long been regarded as one of the most respected production and distribution companies in the unscripted and scripted space, having created huge hits for the biggest streamers and broadcasters in the industry,” said MacMillan. “With Mark and Matt leading our combined studios and rights business, Blue Ant Media is well positioned in its growth as an international media company with production, rights and an established global channels division all operating at scale.”
The combined production businesses will provide an expanded range of IPs across all media genres including documentaries, live-action, animation, scripted entertainment, and unscripted entertainment.
“We are excited to join forces with Michael MacMillan, a trailblazer in our industry known for scaling industry-leading companies,” said marblemedia co-CEOs, Bishop and Hornburg.
“Building this new merged production and distribution studio will bring together our talented teams who have a shared vision and belief that original content and rich IP are the greatest differentiator. The appetite for premium content remains strong in the global market, and we can better serve this demand with high-quality content and by working with best-in-class collaborators.”
The newly-merged studio intends to use its expanded IP portfolio to create larger scale creative projects for both licensed IPs and original content.
It also plans to seek new distribution partnerships with streaming services and broadcasters in North America and around the world.
