MGM and EON Productions are partnering to bring the classic video game GoldenEye 007 to the Nintendo Switch and Microsoft Xbox platforms.
Originally released in 1997 on the Nintendo 64 system, GoldenEye 007 is based on the 1995 James Bond film of the same name.
In the game, players control the James Bond character as they embark on a covert operation to stop the GoldenEye weapon satellite. The game features 20 campaign missions, multiple difficulty levels, unlockable cheat modes, and split-screen multiplayer for up to four players.
The GoldenEye 007 game has been updated for the Xbox platform with improved control options, 16:9 resolution, a consistent refresh rate, and unlockable achievements. The Nintendo Switch version will also include online multiplayer.
The game will be available on the Xbox console series and on Windows 10 PCs. On the Nintendo Switch, it will be available through the Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack membership.
GoldenEye 007 is available for both platforms starting Jan. 27th internationally, excluding Japan. MGM is a US-based entertainment company that specializes in the production and distribution of film and television content.
They co-own the copyright to the existing James Bond films and the right to produce future James Bond movies, along with Danjaq LLC.
Danjaq and its UK affiliate EON Productions control the worldwide merchandising rights for the James Bond brand franchise.
