Sony Pictures Consumer Products has announced an extensive lineup of licensees alongside new film and television launches in time for this year’s Licensing Expo.
“Licensing Expo comes at a defining moment in our trajectory,” said Sony Pictures Entertainment EVP, Jamie Stevens. “With many of our properties enjoying renewed television seasons and film premieres in 2023, we are constantly thinking outside-the-box to bring our fan-favorite characters and stories to life through consumer engagement. We look forward to meeting existing and potential partners at the show and exploring cross-industry ventures that drive our business forward.”
The Cobra Kai TV series will debut its sixth and final season. The final season of Cobra Kai will be supported by consumer product releases throughout 2023. Upcoming product licensees for the Cobra Kai brand include Diamond Select, Asmodee, JAKKS Pacific, Gel Blasters, Hard Brands, ZURU, Bitty Boomer speakers from Sykel Enterprises, as well as a Roblox gaming experience developed by Jazwares Game Studio.
The Ghostbusters multi-media franchise will deliver new content and collaborations as it approaches its fortieth anniversary in 2024. The upcoming Ghostbusters content will include a sequel to the feature film Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the first-ever Ghostbusters animated movie and a new Ghostbusters animated series.
Next year will also mark the fortieth anniversary of The Karate Kid action-comedy franchise. A new feature film for the franchise is expected to debut in June, 2024.
Sony Pictures Consumer Products will unveil extensive licensing programs for the uocoming Karate Kid and Ghostbusters anniversaries early in 2024.
Sony Pictures Consumer Products has secured several key licensees for the upcoming Gran Turismo movie from PlayStation Productions. The lineup of licensees currently includes Ripple Junction, BDA and Araca for Gran Turismo apparel and accessories. More Gran Turismo consumer products will be available through the PlayStation Gear Store, Sony Pictures Online Store, and its new Amazon Storefront. The Gran Turismo film will be hit theaters in August 2023.
A TV series inspired by the post-apocalyptic video game Twisted Metal is premiering on Peacock on July 27. The release of the Twisted Metal series will be supported by a licensed energy drink from the G Fuel beverage brand. Ripple Junction has also been selected as a licensee to develop Twisted Metal-themed apparel and accessories.
The superhero TV property, The Boys, has released new licensed product from Funko, YouTooz, Upper Deck, Medicom Toy, Good Smile, Fun.com, G Fuel and more for its fourth season debut. The licensed products can be found at retailers nationwide and on its dedicated Amazon storefront.
Gen V, a college-focused spinoff of The Boys TV series, is set to release new apparel and accessories with Ripple Junction later this year. Sony Pictures Consumer Products will also launch a Gen V-themed storefront through Amazon’s e-commerce platform.
The time-traveling historical drama Outlander has secured a slate of new retail collaborations for its seventh season debut on June 16. The collaborations include fashion collection inspired by the series from the clothing retailers Her Universe and Torrid. Designs and quotes from the series will also be featured on deep-etched and hand-painted wine bottles for a licensed collection from Manos Wine. A new Outlander-themed licensing program with Build-A-Bear is expected to debut this Fall.
Sony Pictures Consumer Products (SPCP) will provide further information on new licensees and brand partnerships for its entertainment franchises at booth N214 at the 2023 Licensing Expo in Las Vegas.
