Multi-brand toy company TCG Toys is bringing back the licensed 1990s heritage toy line, Bend-Ems, through a slate of licensing agreements.
Bend-Ems are action figures with bendable arms and legs. The soft rubber-like exterior and wire interior provide durability and elasticity, making them extremely poseable.
“The appeal of Bend-Ems is a cultural phenomenon,” said TCG Toys Founder and CEO Michael Albert. “Bend-Ems are collectible, affordable, and ripe for today’s market. We are thrilled to bring the popular 90s toy back to the forefront of creative and imaginative play. Like the original, TCG Toys is positioned to bring Bend-Ems to market quickly.”
The new Bend-Em toys come to retail shelves this fall. Series One will feature top licenses and characters to collect, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, and SpongeBob SquarePants.
The authentic Bend-Ems figures will include classic features such as the six-inch scale and the signature engraved brand name on the back. It will be packaged in a blister card, as a tribute to the Bend-Em’s nostalgic 90s packaging.
“People ask me what the most important key was to the success of Bend-Ems,” said Allan Rigberg, Bend-Ems IP owner and creator.
“It’s two-fold: speed to market and desirable licenses. The figures’ innovative design allows us to quickly ramp into production, further allowing retail buyers to seize opportunities quickly,” Rigberg added.
“TCG Toys’ agility, enthusiasm and extensive licensing partners make them the perfect team to combine Bend-Ems nostalgic elements, today’s popular characters and get them to market quickly.”
From its original debut in 1987 with the Alfred E. Newman license, to its heyday between 1989– 2001, the classic retro Bend-Ems toy line from toymaker JusToys featured over 400 characters with licenses from Disney, Turner, Warner, Hanna Barbera, Star Wars and WWF.
TCG Toys is globally known for its high quality and affordable toys and products with distribution in over 40 countries. The company’s multi-product categories include proprietary brands and licenses.
