Genius Brand’s new show Stan Lee’s Superhero Kindergarten has already surpassed 40 million views on Kartoon Channel since its debut on April 23.
“I knew the viewership would be great, but even I didn’t think we would be getting this level of views with just 11 episodes streaming so far,” said Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is both executive producer and stars in the show.
“Over 40 million views in just a few short months is an incredible achievement, and I am so honored by this reception. I want to thank the entire team for the fantastic work. I know Stan Lee himself would be so proud. We have 15 more episodes left in our first season, so this is just the beginning!”
The show has put out 11 episodes so far with 15 more to air over the remainder of the 2021 season, but has already become a mainstay on the Kartoon Channel. SLSK is credited with bringing a greater than 900% increase in unique users to the Kartoon Channel! ecosystem, and it has become the top watched show on the network.
With that success, the show is expected to spin off a wide range of licensed products over the coming year.
“Stan Lee’s Superhero Kindergartenis a rising star in the TV world and with great content, comes great commercial success,” said Kerry Phelan, the newly appointed EVP & General Manager of Global Franchise Management at Genius Brands.
Kartoon Channel is thrilled with the reception and the increase in viewership it has brought, said executive chairman Margaret Loesch, who was also the former president of Marvel Entertainment, and Founding President & CEO of Fox Kids. “Smart comedy is good business and this is one of the smartest comedies I’ve seen in a very long time.”
Stan Lee’s Superhero Kindergarten is geared towards kids and families and focuses on the adventures of six unique kids who are learning to master their super skills, along with their ABCs, with the help of their teacher Arnold Armstrong, the alter ego for Earth’s greatest superhero Captain Fantastic.
The kids get their powers after Captain Fantastic faces off in a final fight against his nemesis, the evil Dr. Superior, that left him powerless. During the fight, super-energy particles rained down on a group of unsuspecting toddlers, turning them into a new team of young superheroes who must learn to control their powers.
Stan Lee’s Superhero Kindergarten features Schwarzenegger, voice-directed by John Landis, one of the most successful movie directors of all time, with Steven Banks, former head writer for SpongeBob SquarePants, serving as head writer for the series. The series is produced by Genius Brands and Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment in association with Schwarzenegger’s Oak Productions. Gill Champion, CEO of Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment; Andy Heyward, Chairman & CEO of Genius Brands; Schwarzenegger; and Paul Wachter of Main Street Advisors serve as executive producers.
As reported recently in the The Licensing Letter, the Stan Lee-inspired show was made possible when Genius Brands licensed the likeness for the Marvel founder.
