NetEase Games and MGM have announced a licensing collaboration between the TV series, Vikings and the popular game, Vikingard.
Vikingard is a popular role-playing simulation game for mobile devices. It was developed by NetEase Games and Clicktouch Technology. The game allows players to take on the role of a Viking chieftain from the Fharun tribe.
NetEase Games is the online games division of NetEase, Inc. The company is one of the world’s largest incubators of online game content. NetEase Games supports the growth of gaming studios around the world while solidifying its international presence.
In addition to its self-developed games and R&D capabilities, NetEase Games partners with industry leaders such as Blizzard Entertainment, Mojang AB and more to operate some of the most popular online games.
The Vikingard crossover event with the Vikings TV series begins with a pre-launch event, where players will encounter a mysterious Viking girl who will lead players to the main crossover event.
Vikings is a historical drama television series created and written by Michael Hirst for the History channel. The Vikings series is produced by Metro Goldwyn Mayer, a leading entertainment company focused on the production and global distribution of film and television content across all platforms.
The four Vikings characters featured in the crossover are Ragnar, Lagertha, Rollo, and Floki. The Vikings storyline involves helping Floki to create a secret fleet, sailing to England in search of plunder, earning a noble rank, and it concludes with a prophecy about more adventures to come.
Once the main phase of the event ends, the crossover will enter a review phase, where players can relive the storyline and replay the gameplay segments that happened throughout the event.
The four Vikings heroes that will join players in the Vikingard game possess unique weapons and stat enhancing skills.
The Vikings characters will also act as in-game friends during the event, allowing you to chat to them and earn affinity, unlocking special rewards and letting them stick around after the event has ended.
Players can also fight alongside the Vikings heroes in the Challenger’s Coast, where they can slay enemies together in order to win valuable rewards. Once the battles are won, all players can take part in a Crossover Banquet alongside the Vikings heroes to earn additional in-game rewards.
The partners say this licensing collaboration is just the beginning and players who wish to learn more about Vikingard can join the game’s social media community.
