Who’s News: Authentic Appoints Tim Derner as Global Head of Marketplaces

Authentic Brands Group has appointed Tim Derner to serve as the company’s global head of marketplaces.
In his new role at Authentic, Derner is responsible for spearheading the expansion of the company’s global distribution initiatives.
Derner’s main areas of focus include strengthening existing partnerships and developing new avenues of brand extension.
He will also work to increase the long-term value of Authentic’s brand portfolio across a diversified network of retail platforms.
“Marketplaces are a critical engine for long-term brand growth,” said Authentic president, Matt Maddox. “Tim’s track record of building high-performing teams and scaling digital marketplaces worldwide makes him the ideal leader to deepen our capabilities in this space. His appointment marks a significant step in making this channel a cornerstone of our global distribution strategy.”
Prior to joining the company, Derner gained more than a decade of experience serving in leadership roles at Amazon.
He most recently served as director of Amazon’s fashion and luxury stores.
Over his past several years with Amazon, Derner worked closely with Authentic to expand the online presence and sales of its brands across Amazon stores.
“Authentic has built an unparalleled portfolio, and there’s an incredible opportunity to reimagine how iconic brands show up on global marketplaces,” said Derner. “We’re just scratching the surface of what’s possible when great brands are optimized for discovery and conversion at scale, and I’m thrilled to help build on that momentum through world-class marketplace execution.”
Authentic’s investment in its Marketplaces division is part of its ongoing initiative to expand the reach of its brand portfolio through an omnichannel approach to retail and distribution.
