Compass Natural Marketing has entered into a cooperative agreement with the USDA to support its Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP).
The USDA’s TOPP program is designed to foster organic agriculture and provide technical assistance to new and existing organic farmers.
TOPP is building partnership networks in six regions across the U.S. to create and administer farmer mentorship, education and community-building programs. The five-year program is a major part of the USDA’s Organic Transition Initiative.
Compass Natural will be responsible for managing several key TOPPS events throughout the Plains Region during the second half of 2023.
“We are thrilled to partner with Compass Natural on the Transition to Organic Partnership Program,” saide Brandon Hill, OCIA International’s Program Director for the Plains Region TOPP. “As the agency has a deep connection to organic markets, it is a great fit to help make the connections producers will need to successfully transition to organic.”
Compass Natural is a communications and PR agency that specializes in providing services for the organic and eco-friendly market.
The agency will utilize a contact list of more than 25,000 prominent members of the organic food and agriculture industries for the upcoming Plains Region events.
“Compass Natural is honored, grateful and excited to be partnering with TOPP on such an important program focusing on supporting farmers as they transition to organic,” said Compass Natural founder, Steven Hoffman. “We look forward to educating farmers about the true value of organic in building resiliency in their farm operations.”
The Compass Natural event program will launch with a monthly webinar education program called Fall Focus on the Farmer.
The webinar will begin on Aug. 29, 2023. August panelists for the program will include experts like Dr. Gene Kelly, Tina Owens, and Mark Retzloff.
The Fall series will conclude with a live one-day networking and education event in November.
The live event will bring together experts and farmers to discuss subjects related to organic agriculture.
The discussion topics will include organic resources, soil regeneration, carbon sequestration, best practices in pest control, organic farming, ranching production and handling, financing alternatives, value-added product development and more.
Compass Natural is one of 16 select organizations that are partnering with OCIA International in TOPP’s Plains Region, which encompasses Colorado, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma.
