The metaverse world builder Everyrealm and entertainment producer Gaumont, have announced a licensed collaboration called Narcos in the Metaverse.
The story-telling innovation Narcos in the Metaverse, is a social, web3, role-playing experience based on Gaumont’s popular crime drama, Narcos.
Gaumont specializes in producing local stories with global appeal. Its current entertainment slate includes diverse titles across multiple languages for global streaming platforms and channels.
With a global fanbase spanning generations and continents, Narcos has cemented its place as one of the most popular streaming shows in the world.
“Narcos gained popularity because it allowed viewers to travel to a different place in time through its faithful depiction of events inspired by real life,” said Janine Yorio, CEO of Everyrealm. “Similarly, the metaverse is the perfect platform for people to experience time travel and alternate realities, and I have no doubt that people will love the metaverse experience just as much.”
Narcos in the Metaverse allows users to relive a memorable historical period from the perspective of a first-person character. Specifically, the rise of the cocaine trade in Columbia during the 1980s.
With Narcos in the Metaverse users can experience the violence of drug cartels while building their own story through choice-based experiences and online community interaction.
“We are very excited to work with the Everyrealm team on this endeavor, and we believe the Narcos brand will be a big success in the metaverse, given the dynamic story arcs, diverse characters, and exotic settings,” said Travis J. Rutherford, Chief Revenue Officer, Evolution.
Narcos in the Metaverse will debut later this year, but a waitlist is currently available on the official website.
The deal between Gaumont and Everyrealm was brokered by Evolution USA, Narcos Productions’ global licensing and brand management firm.
Evolution is known for offering strategic brand planning, market analysis, contract negotiations, legal support, product and retail development, and royalty collections. The licensing firm also provides manufacturers with a full-service licensing acquisitions team.
Founded in 2021, Everyrealm has holdings in 25 metaverse platforms, has developed more than 100 metaverse real-estate projects, owns over 3,000 NFTs and manages an e-sports gaming guild.
Everyrealm’s popular metaverse real estate development projects include Fantasy Islands, a luxury community in the Sandbox; Metajuku, a shopping district in Decentraland; and Realm Academy, an online educational campus in the metaverse, located in Somnium Space.
