Penguin Random House (PRH) has signed new agreements with Disney Publishing to create and distribute licensed content for its portfolio of entertainment IP.
“At Disney, we are storytellers at heart, with characters that appeal to every age and stage of life,” said Disney Publishing SVP, Tonya Agurto. “These agreements with PRH will enable us to reach even more fans to extend the adventures of the characters they love.”
Expanding upon Disney’s existing relationship with PRH, the new agreement includes licensed brands from across Disney’s core portfolio, as well as from its Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, 20th Century Studios and National Geographic divisions.
“We are honored to grow our long-time collaboration with The Walt Disney Company,” said Random House Children’s Books SVP, Christopher Angelilli. “Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, and 20th Century Fox properties are brimming with opportunities to reach young readers with entertaining content. Additionally, we are beyond excited to work with National Geographic Kids and carry forward its commitment to educating the next generation about the wonders of our world.”
Per the terms of the extended partnership, Penguin Random House will create a wide range of works such as picture books, novels, manga, reference books and more, that will be released in print, ebook and audio formats.
The updated partnership marks a significant expansion to the two companies’ long-running licensing program, which has now spanned over two decades.
“By building upon the legacy of our decades-long relationship, we will appeal to lifelong Disney fans who crave more stories about their favorite characters,” said Random House Worlds president, Scott Shannon. “And for those readers looking to get a glimpse into what makes The Walt Disney Company so magical, we will produce even more content they’ve come to trust—from new reference guides to behind-the-scenes books.”
