Surge Licensing Named Exclusive Agent for Clive Barker’s Hellraiser

September 16, 2024

Surge Licensing has been appointed by Park Avenue Entertainment and Clive Barker as the exclusive global licensing agent for Clive Barker’s Hellraiser.
As Hellraiser’s new licensing representative, Surge is responsible for developing a global consumer products and retail program based on the first three films from the horror franchise.
“We are excited to have partnered with Surge, whose decades of licensing experience and many existing relationships will enhance and expand the Hellraiser brand,” said Park Avenue Entertainment CEO Lawrence Kuppin.
Surge Licensing and its partner agency Caroline Mickler Licensing will be exhibiting the Hellraiser franchise at booth A180 at the BLE business-to-business event to meet with potential licensing partners.
Surge will be seeking partners across numerous retail categories including spirits, food, fragrances, games, collectibles, beverages, gifts and more.

The first licensees to join the program, Fright Rags and Trick or Treat Studios, have signed on to create a wide range of Hellraiser products featuring prominent characters from the franchise such as Pinhead, Chatterer, Butterball, the Engineer and more.
“We are thrilled Surge has been appointed the global licensing agency for Hellraiser, a legendary horror brand with massive global recognition and a tremendous fanbase across a broad demographic,” said Surge Licensing president, Mark Freedman. “We see endless opportunities to create unique merchandise featuring renowned Cenobite characters from the franchise and are excited to work with our first two partners, Fright Rags and Trick or Treat Studios, to develop a retail program to appeal to Hellraiser’s massive fan community, who have been craving new merchandise for years.”

The new licensees say they are excited to be working with one of the world’s top horror film brands.
“The original Hellraiser has been a highly sought after property for us for many years, and we are thrilled to be finally working with it,” said Fright Rags CEO, Ben Scrivens. “Pinhead and the cenobites have a storied history in the pantheon of horror, and we cannot wait to lend our creative forces to the brand to create new and exciting products.

“We have such sights to show you.”

Fright Rags will develop a collection of licensed apparel and limited-edition collector cards.
Trick or Treat Studios has been selected to create a line of costumes, figures, masks and props for the classic horror franchise.
“As fans of all the Hellraiser movies, Trick or Treat Studios is absolutely honored to be chosen to make the best costumes, masks, and action figures for this incredible franchise,” said Trick or Treat Studios president, Chris Zephro.
Created by the acclaimed author, screenwriter and director Clive Barker, the Hellraiser franchise currently includes four theatrical films, six direct-to-video movies, a 2022 movie reboot on Hulu, a comic book series, licensing collaborations with video games such as Dead by Daylight and much more.
The licensed Hellraiser products are expected to hit the retail market during spring 2025.
