Top Toy Companies Double Down on Upgraded Permanent Stands at Spielwarenmesse

November 2, 2023

By Gary Symons

The world’s largest toy fair, Spielwarenmesse, says 21 large companies have extended their tenancy in the ‘permanent stands’ in Hall 12.2 at the Nuremberg Conference Centre.

Spielwarenmesse offers something very different for major exhibitors in the toy industry, which is seldom seen at any other trade show. The permanent stands in Hall 12.2 are just that; large-scale exhibiting facilities that the companies can use all year around, not just during the Spielwarenmesse toy fair.

The Spielwarenmesse conference organizers say they have now taken an important step this year in securing the future of its familiar location in Nuremberg, as the tenancies of the leading long-term tenants in Hall 12.2 of the exhibition centre have been extended by three years. At the same time, the area around the ‘permanent stands’ in the upper level of NCC West has been renovated and will appear in its new splendor at the forthcoming event, which takes place between Jan. 30 and Feb. 3.

“For over 20 years, Hall 12.2 has represented a very special trade fair experience,” says Christian Ulrich, Spokesperson of the Executive Board at Spielwarenmesse eG. “By extending their contracts for the permanent stands, the major exhibitors are expressing their confidence in Spielwarenmesse over the coming years.”

An impressive two-thirds of these major exhibitors have established a presence in the permanent stands since the beginning of Spielwarenmesse. Currently, 21 German and international companies occupy the 13,700 m² exhibition space, as seen in the photo at top.

Crowds Come Back to Nuremberg as Spielwarenmesse Toy Fair Returns

The 21 companies that have committed to the three-year term include: Aurora World Corporation; Binney & Smith Europe LTD; FUNRISE Inc.; geobra Brandstätter Stiftung & Co. KG; Happy People GmbH & Co.; KG GmbH & Co. KG; HEUNEC GmbH & Co. KG Plüschspielwarenfabrik; HTI – Halsall Toys Int.; IMC Toys Deutschland GmbH; INJUSA Industrial Juguetera, S.A.; John GmbH;  LEGO GmbH; Mattel GmbH; Revell GmbH; Rubies Masquerade Company UK Ltd; Sieper GmbH; Sieper Beteiligungs GmbH; Simm Spielwaren GmbH; TOMY Deutschland GmbH; VTECH Electronics Europe GmbH; Zapf Creation AG; and ZURU Germany GmbH.

The company also says visitors to the upcoming Spielwarenmesse tradeshow will the exhibitors in Hall 12.2 presenting their wares in a completely redesigned environment, thanks to a modernizing renovation by the brand staging specialists mac.brand space.

At the forthcoming Spielwarenmesse, the exhibitors in Hall 12.2 will be presenting their highlights in a freshly redesigned environment. The modernisation, undertaken by brand staging specialists mac. brand spaces, involved removing the steel structures in the arcade walkways to open up the view of the stand areas, providing a friendlier and brighter environment. The team also installed new floor covering, introduced more modern lighting elements in the walkway areas, and redesigned the entrance area, creating a new and fresh look that also better beckons buyers to the toy producers’ stands.

Unlike the temporary booths one sees at the vast majority of trade shows, the companies use the spaces all year round  as showrooms and event locations, for example, and of course for the Spielwarenmesse.

“The dimensions of the 2024 Spielwarenmesse will exceed those of the previous fair—major brands in all product fields are represented. The tenancy extension, the modernisation and the very good occupancy rates in the individual halls are an impressive endorsement of its position as the world’s leading trade fair,” says board member and spokesperson Christian Ulrich.

Spielwarenmesse is the world’s largest trade show for toys, hobbies and leisure products, and is held at the Nuremberg Conference Centre (NCC) every year.
