The LEGO Group and Hasbro have announced a new collaborative LEGO Icons build set based on Soundwave from the Transformers franchise.
Designed for adult fans, the Soundwave model set offers a detailed build experience that includes 1,505 pieces, swappable modes, weapon accessories, a display plaque and more.
Designed with posable joints, the set features a model of the Decepticon villain Soundwave and his two cassette tape companions, Ravage and Laserbeak.
All of the character models allow easy conversion between their robot and machine modes.
When converted into the cassettes, Ravage and Laserbeak are able to fit into special compartments located in Soundwave’s chest.
The collectible Transformers LEGO set also includes a working cassette bay, voice lines and sound effects, as well as weapon accessories like a rocket pod, a laser blaster and darts.
With text showcasing Soundwave’s power statistics, the display plaque included with the set is designed to appeal to the adult collector demographic within Transformers fandom.
The new Decepticon-inspired set adds to the Lego Group’s existing collection of licensed Transformers LEGO Icons, which also includes build sets for Optimus Prime and Bumblebee.
Available for LEGO Insiders through Early Access starting on August 1, the collaborative set will hit the general market on August 4 through LEGO’s in-person retail stores and dedicated e-commerce website.
